Kapas Island

I must say that the October month has been quite a fulfilling month for me so far... alot of work done, achieved some significant milestones in my career and at the same time balanced it out with 2 island trips in Kapas island, which i'll be writing about now, and Phuket island, which i'll blog about in the next post.

If you're looking for a short getaway from the hustle & bustle of the city, yet easy to plan and affordable, try Kapas Island.

If you're sick of how commercialized Bali & Phuket is... walking along the beach and you have 1 million men & women & confused humans touching you & trying to sell you stuff... try Kapas Island.

It's just a 1 hour flight from KL to Kuala Terrenganu. From there you will need to hire a driver to ferry you down to Marang Jetty and from there, hire a boat man to take you out to the island. It's only about a 30-45mins boat ride so if you get sea sick from this, you're a fucking sissy.

There are a couple of resorts on Kapas Island. I've not seen all of them but based on the 3 ive seen - they all have their own unique expressions.

I actually put up in a resort called "Qimi". Some of the girls complained about the lack of facilities & the dirty toilets but i actually grew fond of the place, not because of the dirty toilets, but how much it resonates with mother nature.

There were no tar roads, hardly any steal, no aircon in the room, most of the challets were built from hand krafts and not manufactured goods. Mother nature. Pure bliss.

This is the challet i stayed in.

On a green island, you'd be expecting insects & mozzies so they fixed nettings to protect you from insect bites when you hit the sack.
The challets had balconies too, where you could just sit & chill & get bitten by mosquitos.

Well, one of the reasons (actually the main reason) i came to Kapas Island was because a mate of mine, Seif, was gonna dedicate his dick to 1 pussy... or in more conventional terms - getting married.

This is the groom to be, doin what a groom gotta do - prove to his wife that he the man.

A pretty picture to show off.

Tell me how you'd feel waking up from an afternoon nap to such a view.

Playin with sand with Arston's kids.

Are'nt these Russian kids just adorable?

Another picture............ not updating my blog for a mth has taken its toll on me (you loose your cock & bull story to describe every picture)

The rest houses were awesome.

This challet is also comin up and i heard they're gonna put a jacuzzi in it.... sounds very manufactured but, at least they're hidin it inside some giant pebbles they've stolen from the beach.

Bride & groom exchanging their vows in front of mother nature's arch.

Such a tradition that friends pose for a picture with the bride & groom after they exchange vows.

More pretty pictures.... from Kapas Island.

Every meal is covered when you rent a challet. And every meal, they set up tables on the beach, laced with flower petals and such.... so you have your meals to the sight of a seashore & to the breeze of the sea....

Only took a picture of the food 75% through it but they serve a variation of food... from local grilled fish to pasta & sausages.
a
All the food is cooked with love from Rose, owner of the resort. I din't have a single thing to complaint about the food.... exotic & mouth watering.

A typical night by a camp fire.

In summary, i absolutely fell in love with Kapas island & will have no hesitation at all to revisit the place.

Arthur's Day - Guinness' 250th Anniversary!

a
A week before Arthur's Day, which was celebrated in Sunway Lagoon on the 25th Sept, Arthur himself went down to greet all his fans in the local pubs around Bangsar, Sri Hartamas & Taman Tun in Kuala Lumpur. All 3 days of the weekend.

Of course he didn't ressurect from his dead - that'd be pretty creepy, but popular homegrown blogger Kenny Sia, impersonated Arthur Guinness and gave Guinness drinkers a chance to win mosh pit tickets to Arthur's Day and watch the Black Eyed Peas up close & personal.

And to win those tickets, you need to know your Guinness well. Like what colour is Guinness (hint: it's not black) and where's its origins.

This is Arthur Guinness in Souled out, Sri Hartamas. Accompanied by his 2 of 21 children - and 2 daughters of course. After 250 years, he's missed partying a hellot. Girls too - daughters too.

d
a
a
This guy in Sid's pub, South Bangsar couldn't answer the 5th & final question to win a pair of mosh pit tickets - and that exact question was - "what is the colour of Guinness?". The 5 questions need to be answered within 119.5 seconds, the exact time required to pour a perfect pint of Guinness Draught.

a
a
a
Homegrown blogger Kenny Sia is so popular, Arthur Guinness visited his Google mark in Bangsar Village. And he posed as Kenny Sia

A week after Arthur Guinness painted the town black, Black Eyed Peas landed in Kuala Lumpur, to perform for their 4th time in a country laden with racial & political controversies.

Their concert was initially restricted for only non-muslims but the restriction was eventually lifted as a result of public pressure. Inspite of that, heavy guidelines were still imposed on for ex. Black Eyed Peas' dress code.

Consequently, Fergie was so covered it's like watching porn ... and the pornstars' arent undressed.

Arthur Guinness must've been disappointed but Fergie's touch was even better. After 250 years, especially.

The meet and greet session (press conference) for the media & celebs. For the priviledged to be up close & personal with the Black Eyed Peas in Hilton Kuala Lumpur.

While the media interviewed & took photos of the Black Eyed Peas, Sunway Lagoon was going through its final stages of setup, preparing for the biggest celebration of the decade - Arthur's Day!
a
I paid a visit to Arthur's Lounge - and experiential room setup for Guinness adorers to pour their own pint of Guinness and experience for themselves, the magic of the 2 part pour.

The stage. Guinness black.

a
a
a
a
8:00pm - the celebration begun. And ima zoom straight to 10:30pm where the Black Eyed Peas make their appearance. A highlight within that zoomed-through 2:30 hours was MC Hotdog - apparently a popular Taiwanese act - nothing significant to me. And that was pretty much it.
a
The Black Eyed Peas came on stage and the crowd pretended that was the first act of the night - they screemed & flashed their phones. They went crazy.
a
2 statues were erected - they looked like inflated structures. Background scene for BEP's performance. Pretty wicked stuff.

a
a
a
a

Fergie came on - the crowd went nuts again. But Fergie didn't pull through - as best as she could - on Arthur's Day. She couldn't find her voice ocassionally and had to rely on the crowd during high pitches. Her eyes looked exhausted and "influenced" and she hardly took off her sunnies.
But that was being meticulous. Generally, she rocked!

a
a
a
a
But Will I Am, completely stole the show. He too had his sunnies on, but he was far more energetic. Apparently, he flew in slightly earlier than the crew and performed in a pub in the Asian Heritage Row and night prior to his concert.
He fucking stole the show.

The crowd went wild when he spun to smell like teen spirit, nirvana.

a
a
a
The 3 male peas.
a
a
a
a

The Black Eyed Peas knew how to end their concerts with a bang - they bowed to Kuala Lumpur

a"Sayonara Gozaimas!"
a
And left with amazing fireworks!

a a
What was also a very responsible gesture from Guinness, was the Black Eyed Peas's final message - a drive safe line. Guinness also distributed free mineral water at the exit of the concert. Kudos to Guinness!
A few years back, you'd be imagining Guinness as a beer for the uncles, drunk at coffee shops. What do you think of Guinness today?

To Arthur!

CONMAN, LCCT, KLIA, BEWARE

It was a Saturday morning at a quarter to 6. Was checking in for a 7AM flight back to Miri. It's not the first time i've booked such an early flight so pls remind me of my stupidity. It was actually prompted by some savings... bout 200 bucks for 2 people but its so not worth it. so not.

To be checking in at a 5:45AM, and living in Bandar Utama, you kinda need to leave your place at 4:45AM and get the cab at your place at half pass 4AM. To be safe, so unless it doesnt come, you have the option to call for another cab.

The night before, i had to clear my work before my 4 day weekend and i didnt finish till half pass 1 in the morning. 3 hr sleep or no sleep? ... i chose no sleep but slept for 1 and a half hours. And that totally fucked me up.

The bazaar feeling LCCT and the long queue didnt help either. I was worse than dead. Was fucking cursing at everything that was a lil different from normal to me. Like ugly tattoos & pretty boys with japanese gigolo looking hair.

Finally, it was my turn to check in. And pls remind me, i could have checked in using one of the electronic booths coz i had no luggage but i forgot to record my reservation number...wtf what a fucked up mind does to you.

Anyway, back to the check in counter, passed the IC to an attendant at the check-in counter. BTW, he was a guy.. thin.. DVD seller looking, japanese gigolo died yellow looking hair - like a porcupine that's just got back from a royal rumble.

He took my IC, punched some alphabets on the keyboard and looks at me and goes "Your credit card payment fail" ... at that mood, i was thinking "failed, not fail, you fucking illeterate". But i was like "what? not possible... i have a reservation number" - just that i didnt bring it - but i dint say it.

This chinese attendant then looks at me with that expression like he's thinking "Dont fuck with me, im the one looking at the screen" and he went, aggitated, "Credit card payment FAIL".

And because he flinched, i was like what the fuck, all the way through a dead state, i just wanna fly home... so i went "so can i pay here?".... i was actually telling him i cant coz i never remember a checking counter accepting monetary transactions... its normally at a different counter.

He went yes and i went like "how?".. he went "credit card or cash".. professionally.

Very suspicious but surprised at the same time, with the pressure of the queue and the impatience and to be safe, i gave him my credit card. Nevertheless, STUPID.

BUT... i was smart enough to monitor and realized that he doesnt have a credit card terminal. I got fucking aggitated at that point. I raised my voice and i was like "DUDE, do you even have a credit card terminal here? So what the hell are you doing?!?!"

He held to the credit card, punched my credit card number into the keyboard like really fast... and said "Online payment" and gave it back to me and said "payment approved". SHIT... that really got me thinking on board the plane. for 10 minutes la before i KO'ed. In that 10 minutes, what went through my mind was like a mental masturbation.

1. A checking counter doesnt do monetary transactions

2. You cannot make a transaction online without keying in the 3 numbers at the back of your card. He didn't turn it around.

3. My credit card has a verification process at the gateway before you can pay. It will ask you personal questions that im pretty damn confident he cannot answer. no fucking way... questions like your mum's name.. how the hell will he know?

4. I got a reservation number. My credit card was charged (i dint remember this at that point of time). So how the fucking way my "credit card payment fail"... FAILED you idiot - pass tense.

When i woke up, everything came into place.

He is a CONMAN.

He wanted some cash.

He saw that i was in bad shape... no sleep

I payed for the tickets a couple of mths back so i could've forgotten bout it

He tried to see if i was stupid enough to pay cash. For if i did... i could have lost that money. Although i can lodge a complaint, it will just fuck me up again... you know, customer service shit.

If i wasn't looking, he could have take down all my credit card details.

All he had to do was to say that my credit card payment failed. EASY... fucking easy. He tried me, that mother fucker, i didnt have full brain capacity but im still too smart for you, prick.

BEWARE FOLKS!!!

Arthur Guinness in Kuala Lumpur

I spent the whole of Friday & Saturday nights out in almost a dozen pubs, ferrying Kenny around - as Arthur Guinness.

In conjuction with Arthur's Day, which is happening this Friday at Sunway Lagoon - those of you fans of the Black Eyed Peas, do go get your tix now - Guinness has decided to warm it up by reviving Arthur Guinness, who painted the town red on Thu, Fri & Sat nites, greeting all Guinness & BEP fans and reminding them of his big 250th anniversary this Friday.

For those who knew their Guinness well, they also stood a chance to win mosh pit tickets to the Black Eyed Peas, how exciting! Coincidentally, Arthur also bumped into Pierre, a friend i've met through Timothy - and he too got a pair of mosh pits... he knew all his Guinness by just reading Kenny's blog... and after winning a pair in front of his 3 boys, he steadily went "sorry, the other pair's for my girl"... well, i guess they were drinking on his tab so they got nothing to say lol.

Anyway, ima be posting some backstage pictures ;)

This is Kenny, after being dressed up as Arthur Guinness. Maybe he shouldn't be holding his head so high. I mean i like the arrogance but the black sideburns are revealing! HAHAH

a
a
a

Not exactly backstage anymore but this is Arthur interacting with the crowd at Sid's pub in South Bangsar. To be honest, i've never quite been to this pub before but they serve pretty decent sausages and they pour really good Guinness! so i'll definitely be coming back.

Kenny actually started off with a running nose and a cold brain - the weather was wet - he was supposed to greet Guinness drinkers but the first table he chose had nobody drinking Guinness but he was able to quickly turn it around - "OH, non of you are Guinness drinkers here... HOW CAN?" .......... LOL

a
a
a

These bunch of Chinese boys were givin it to Arthur quite alot but they really enjoyed his company. And they were all drinking Guinness - so well deserved. Something quite significant they did was when they toasted to Arthur, they did it Chinese style - "Tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Arthur!" haha

a
a
a

These ppl knew Kenny so when they spotted him, they went "HI KENNY!"... but Kenny in the line of duty professionally answered them... "WHO's KENNY?!"... "Im Arthur!"

a
a
a

These guys got lucky and won a pair of mosh pit tickets to the Black Eyed Peas.

a
a
a
a
And in any Guinness event, you'd be expecting some hot promoter girls ;) - Eejin & Chantelle. Apparently Chantelle is also a Miss Malaysia pageant. They both walked Arthur around and his 2 daughters ;)

a
a
a
This guy gave a go at the most pit tickets too.
a
a
a
But he couldn't answer the final question - What is the real colour of Guinness? It's not black. Anyone wanna try?

u

a

a
This gentlemen in red, is Arthur. And Arthur is his real name. Coincidentally, it was his birthday too. To Arthur!
